Pagerank Update & More..

With all the articles written in the last two weeks, I barely had time to write a comprehensive post about what’s been happening with my blogs, so these are the subjects I will be covering in this post:

Google Pagerank updated
Being an employer - first impressions
Coming up on AlleNation…

Google Pagerank updated
After weeks of uncertainty it seems that the final updates of Google’s data centers are through. AlleNation made some notable progress in a short amount of time and is now standing at PR3 (thanks for the links everyone!).

From the other hand, my entertainment blog stayed at PR4, despite getting new links from Digg, Fark, Neatorama, Boing Boing and hundreds of more sites linked to me after I hit the homepage of these. This is pretty disappointing for me since hitting PR5/6 would mean that my TLA inventory would be bringing much more income each month. Oh well..on to some more marketing!

Being an employer - first impressions
It’s been 4 days since I first posted about successfully hiring two bloggers, the second blogger actually just started to write yesterday until we sorted some things out.

Things have been going roughly as planned, I’ve got to admit that it isn’t as automated as I thought it would be, i still have to edit portions of the submitted posts and work on some aesthetics, but I’m pretty confident that the two guys I got under my wing have the talent and with a bit of sharpening and guiding, they will be a valuable asset, I’m pretty sure I’ll be raising their pay soon. More to be written about that later.

Coming up on AlleNation…
In the past two weeks AlleNation.com was growing steadily with traffic and subscribers, earlier this week I got linked by Problogger which spiked my traffic and subscriber count (thanks Darren!), surely the thought I’ve put into ‘5 blog aspects to revise in 2007‘ didn’t go down the drain; I hope to continue and gain loyal readers, I’m loving the conversations that follow my posts.

In the next 2 days I will have no less than 4 extremely important tests, which means you won’t probably get to hear much from me, but you better stay tuned because the next post on AlleNation is going to dispel one of the biggest myths in the blogosphere.

Hi,

I like the design of your blog. Simple and nice. Congrat that you have done well in such a short time.

Hey Allen

What was your PR after one month? Could you give me any advice for my blog?

Yours is pretty impressive, especially considering you (and your blog) are so young.

Thanks, John.

And Armen - I think my PR after one month was 0, the efforts during your first month should be geared towards putting a shape to your blog and getting Google to actually crawl you.

As for advice, I’ve written a pretty comprehensive series on personal blogs recently, it’s a long read (like a lot of my recent posts), but I believe you will find benefit in it.

Cheers,
Allen.H

It is great you got listed by problogger !!

I have some tests to monday and tuesday.. busy for that.

looking forward the your next blog post

Allen

I read through your posts and found them very instructive. I’d love to add some really unique design elements to my blog. I don’t have much of a problem working and designing things in Photoshop, but I’m just not sure how to add them to my blog.

Armen - To put the elements you’ve designed on your blog’s face you will probably need to know a fair bit of coding as well. If you don’t, how about you go and pick one of the thousands of wordpress themes out there and give it a different feel so it looks somewhat unqiue?

Cheers,
Allen.H

The problem with most themes Allen is that you’re always going to find them elsewhere on the net. Although I’ve seen blogs that look similar to yours on first appearance, yours is quite different.

If I even knew a way to change the background of my site to contain personal touches such as faded sketches, photos, or things like that it would make it look more like mine.

I may go and buy a book and start learning the code, eh?

Armen, I just finished writing my post about the blogosphere myth, and I think it will answer your question(s) pretty well.

After reading the post, I believe you will have a better sense of where to head next for your blogging needs. I’m pretty bad with Photoshop and even worse with coding, but I’ll tell you how I got my blogs pimped.

Note to self: Stop being a marketing whore
