Well some of the few readers that visit this blog might have started to wonder why i didn’t update, well trust me - i had some excellent reasons not to. This post is going to be long, but very, very interesting.

To be honest i’ve made plans to move hosts this month, i was topping my measly 30GB on my old host, i don’t know how i got by with 30GB of bandwidth!

…Then came October 16th - i submitted one of my posts at TDB to Fark.com and few other sites. Within 3 hours i was up on their homepage, which resulted in over 36,000 visitors in the following two days. Great isn’t it? what about the fact that 18K of them used more than 10GB? I started my superfast hunt for a new host.

Actually i was already decided, DreamHost was with no doubt the most attractive host, i found a coupon that saved me over 80 dollars, which means i’d pay only $22.40 instead of $120 (for the first year). There was only one problem - you can only pay by credit card if you decide to use a coupon, and i don’t have one, neither could i ask for my dad’s because he’s…well, he’s an old fashioned, very traditional man.

A friend i only met recently decided to save my sites from being plugged off and told me she was ready to use her own credit card, for me it was clear that this offer was honest and sincere, but i still felt uncomfortable - so the moment her card used, i decided to transfer some money to her Paypal account, which she declined. This of course overwhelmed me and i felt so greatful, i still do…but i had no time to ponder, moving my sites was a top priority.

I faced numerous amount of problems, really - lots of them. And though i was able to face most of them my own (DreamHost use their own ControlPanel) and trasfered the sites successfuly, some of the features were not working, one was a cruical plugin that i needed on my recently Farked site. I contacted the author of that plugin, namely Stephen Granade with no expectation to get a reply, i got a reply…in fact, i got over 15 replies, Stephen guided me step-by-step and even coded a special portion that will work on my “unique” control panel; It’s wonderful to know there are still people out there that are willing to help, even if they don’t have to.
