March Forward

The fact February only has 28 days didn’t help my Adsense averages, but instead of whining about this and about the fact that Dreamhost was down for a whole day and loading extremely slow (have you noticed it?) for the next last 5 days, I’m putting together a recovery plan to perform better in March.

Earnings for February
February: the month of the slacker
March is going to be interesting, more than you imagine. A lot more.

Earnings for February

Income:

- Google Adsense: $1,240 ( $1,310 in January, 5% decline)
- BlogAds: $180 ($220 in January, 18% decline)
- Text-Link-Ads: $85 ($48 in January, 79% growth)
- FeedBurner Ad Network: $40 ($62 in January, 35% decline)
- Paid posting: $0 ($92 in January)

Total income: $1545

Expenses:

- Domain name purchases: $0 ($9 in January)
- Paid review: $100 (more about this)
- Paid posting: $45

Total expenses: $145

Net profit for February: $1400 ($1673 in January, 16% decline)
(January’s earnings)

So as you see February wasn’t exactly my month, for a couple of reasons: one of them is the fact that it has only 28 days, so there 2-3 less days to make money, but that happens to everyone as well.

Another reason is the fact that Dreamhost was down for 24 hours after a major outage, and failed to fully resolve the problem until the end of the month. This seriously affects those who rely on PayPerClick advertising like myself, but that’s not the main reason my revenue went down..

February: The Month of The Slacker

While I believe I’ve done quite a good job here at AlleNation, which led to an impressive state of growth, the attention and effort put into this blog distracted me from my big earner, which I believe is the biggest reason why I didn’t fulfill my financial goals for February.

Yes, I’ve been slacking, and I paid the price..now it’s time to put in a recuperation plan before I go under the 4 figures mark:

  • Move to a better, more reliable host by the end of March (any suggestions for highly trafficked blogs?).
  • Discounting the writing leverage plan until suitable writers are found.
  • Balancing attention, time and effort between AlleNation & my main earner.
  • Compiling many interesting entertainment posts to ensure my main earner hits at least one of the social bookmarking sites’ homepage during March.
  • Looking very simple on paper, on paper.

March is going to be interesting, more than you imagine. A lot more.

My February goals for AlleNation were to reach 100 unique visitors and have 70 RSS subscribers. Although I haven’t yet gained a steady 100 unique visitors average, my RSS subscriber count showed over 130 RSS subscribers on the last of February.

AlleNation is growing steadily and gaining a savvy audience that leave over 6 comments per post on average, most of them are thoughtful and interesting.

But the new features venturing into AlleNation into March are much more interesting comparing to what you’ve seen in February..I can’t say what these features are, but I can promise you these are not things you have seen on web, finance & personal development blogs lately.

    Stay tuned.

Wow, congrats! There’s many of us who only wish we could be making a 4 digit blog income :D Also, I don’t know if I missed it, but what’s you’re “main earner” as you referred to it in your post?

Hello Gregg and thanks for your words,

I don’t specify my other blog(s) for several reasons explained several times in the comment section. But I’ll be sure to post about this during March as you are not the first to ask.

    Cheers,
    Allen

Yeah I noticed this blog was down or really slow recently. A major pain, for sure.

I think February is more of a down month anyway, but if you say you’re being a slacker then stop being a slacker. :D

Things seem to be going great for you right now, Allen. I expect to be up to making that much on Adsense for my blog(s) by the end of Summer. I know that it will take a lot of work, but I really am confident. Good luck with your blogs!

“- Paid review: $100 (more about this)”

“more about this” is missing the link, but I know what article you are talking about ;)

Good to see things are going well Allen - I too am interested in your ‘main earner’ although from memory I think it’s maybe a celebrity site, but I could be thinking of someone else.

For a webhost I have been really pleased with ixwebhosting.com.

    Hey Allen,
I obviously can’t read, but where’s the link to this website that you are quoting the stats?

John - Thanks for letting me know, I just fixed that.

All those who are asking about my big earner - see comment #2.

I like that! Actually my site, makes about at least a million bucks a day off adsense.

But I’m not going to tell you the link.

Ok, fine … since you TWISTED my arm -

    google.com

have you heard of it? ;)

Nice earnings, Allen! I would be happy with $1,400. :)

I’ve seen big websites and blogs using Media Temple.

Thanks for your suggestion Noah, I’m looking into Media Temple’s plans right now and they seem quite intriguing!

    Cheers,
    Allen

Congratulations! Im sure you’ll break the mark at March, looking forward to this new “interesting” month ;)
