I Hate Dreamhost

One of the golden rules in blogging is to never get too emotionally involved, it usually leads to nothing but trouble.

But I’m going to break that rule because I’m about to go literally insane at the moment, and you know the reason. I guess I’m now learning what I’ve been told many times: You get exactly what you pay for.

Anyway, I don’t want to rant too much. I’ve just placed an order at Media Temple, I’m getting a virtual private server and hope it will be robust enough to host my sites.

The post on my biggest earner will be published after the transfer.

Thanks for understanding, I really do appreciate it..
Allen

You will be happy with MT. What plan did you get?

Hey Allen,

Thanks for the tip. If Dreamhost knew what was good for them they’d get under your table right now. ;)

Bloggers have an exceptional ability to sway influence. Your opinion of them will last a life time, now I will never buy anything from them, ever.

If you’ve read Jeff Kee’s blog,
http://blog.jeffkee.com/2007/03/05/a-very-nice-gesture-from-telus-mobility-no-sarcasm-whatsoever/
you’ll know that he just wrote about his dilemma with the phone company. The company found his post and actually called him to make things right.

Blogs are getting the attention of corporations, when they know whats good for them.

if you are not happy with media temple i strongly suggest bluefur
they have been extremely helpful, resetting alot of my mistakes and whatnot
im still having problems over at my site
but nothing on the hosting side

I’ve been on dreamhost for over a year now, and they’ve surely had their ups and downs. Lately I’ve been happy though, so I won’t be making the jump. If they have another episode like they had last year ( over a week of up and down constantly ) then I’ll pack up shop too.

I tried a few hosting companies too and I was absolutely ripping my hair out at times. There just wasn’t a whole lot of power on the machines that I could afford. So, I turned to a gaming server company and asked them if they could host me a private box, and sure enough I’ve got a beastly server box with an almost 24/7 personal tech available to help me tweak or fix my box if anything goes wrong. I’m getting charged an arm and a leg at the moment because apparently I’m using a ridiculous amount of bandwidth for one my sites. Nonetheless, I’m very satisfied with my host. If Media Temple doesn’t float your boat either, feel free to ask me and I can probably get you a good deal on a great box.

Cheers
Stew

Hey Nate, I got the basic VPS plan for $500/year, I really hope Media Temple will do.

Thanks Broc & Stew for your suggestions, I’d consider these before buying a VPS at Media Temple if I was aware of them. Let’s hope their VPS does the job and doesn’t fail…I have a 15 days money-back-guarantee.

Hey Allen, I’m using HostGator.com They’re fairly new, but I haven’t had any problems with them. Great prices! :D Hope you get all of your problems resolved
