Google Gives & Google Takes

I checked my Feedburner stats last night, my highest earning & trafficked blog had ~700 subscribers, but what was a little surprising is this blog having 2 subscribers, which is nice considering i update it once or twice a month, so if you are one of those two thanks for staying tuned!

What’s for dinner tonight?

Earnings for November
How many of my November goals did i accomplish?
Google Gives & Google Takes: Reflections on December so far

Earnings for November

Income:

- Google Adsense: $279 ( $240 in October, 16% growth)
- Direct link sales: $22 ($65 in October)
- Paypal (donations): $0 (60$ in October)
- BlogAds: $35 ($30 in October)
- Text-Link-Ads: $33 ($15 in October)

Total income: $369

Expenses:

- Domain name purchases: $8.80

Total expenses: $9

Net profit for November: $360 ($313 in October, 15% growth)

Although the initial income for October was higher than November’s, i still made 15% more since i didn’t have as much expenses. I will try to analyze the stats above in the next chapter below.

How many of my November goals did i accomplish?

  • 170K unique visitors on TDB (my flagship site)
  • Sell at least 2 BlogAds on TDB
  • Direct-sell at least 2 more text links on my tech blog
  • setup my mortgage related blog to update automatically and watch the money coming in :)
  • If most of the above goals are accomplished, i hope to make between $350 to $400, of course this is would be less than the current month, but don’t forget i got $60 in donations which i probably won’t be getting in November.
  • Finally, and if I’ll have funds i would like to buy a site or two to bring in some extra dollars every month
  • As you can see, only 2 out of 6 goals were accomplished, something that would usually get me very upset with myself, but not for November. I’ve made 16% more in November from Adsense, eventhough in October i was featured on Fark, Reddit, BoingBoing & Neatorama. Keeping up in November wasn’t easy at all considering the fact i only got on Reddit’s homepage once.

Google Gives & Google Takes: Reflections on December so far

Now those of you who were patient enough to read through the boring analyzes of my earnings are going to be interested in reading the following: i am a 4 figure blogger for December, you heard it right. In December 1st i woke up to check my earnings and saw it was on $66, a quick peek at my sitemeter showed that Google listed me #1 for a very high volume search. On the following days i was making even more, topping $136/day.

But Google had to take that away from me - In 7/12 i was knocked from the upper page fold, i was still on the first page but visitors had to scroll down to see my site. This led to a “huge” fall in my daily earnings, yesterday, for example, brought in “only” $62. An amount i could only dream of when i tried to assemble my December goals.

I haven’t reached $1000 yet, but I’m pretty sure i will. I will try to purchase some more links to the high trafficked page in order to get it up above the first page fold and maybe start making +$100 again, but even if i don’t, i have nothing to complain about =).

    Until next time…

    Allen

    Great post!
I need to get my act together, you’re kicking your goals’ ass. And I’m getting left behind in the dust!

Thanks for the encouragement on VolumeBoost, I’ll get on promoting that.

Hey Paul, thanks for your feedback.

VolumeBoost is definitely worth giving a try, and a serious one. Many musicians are out there trying to promote their music for free.

With some customization to the navigation features and functionality, i think you can bring visitors and music lovers to discover new artists, bands and singers to promote their music, and good paying advertisers as well.

Allen let me know if you’re interested in partnering up on volumeboost!

    Just a thought.

Paul, i will consider your offer and see if my interests are in a joint venture of that kind. I appreciate your interest to cooperate with me.

    Paul

How the hell did you get your traffic so high with high volume search as to make $136 per day whereas the previous month was totally different?

    Hey Steven,

The writer of this post and author of this blog is actually me, Allen and not Paul.

As for your question: I blogged a scoop hours after it was first published on the web and heavily SEOed (read) the post’s text and title, which ranked me high in Google. They have dropped me a bit now, but i’m still making decent money and receiving (relatively) exceptional traffic :).
